Memory is a variable factor that transforms, edits, and deletes according to the passage of time. People in modern society tend to record all memories. Uploading photographs of locations, books, and movies from everyday life on social media have become a part of daily routine. From such a perspective, what significance does a space hold? By having the ‘Record of Existence’ imprinted in the memory, it aims to unfold the narrative on the space records of a person with the memory. People occupy certain spaces throughout their life. The ambiance of space is perceived by senses while being present in the space and a narrative infused in the space is preserved in one’s memory. The records accumulated while lost in oblivion reveal a form of someone’s life.
Walking through space, a memory of the space permeates a person’s memory.
Spatial information
People’s bodies are marked with spatial coordinates as they move around different spaces. The spatial coordinates marked on the body represent a memory of the space occupied by a person, and an evanescent memory of the space replaced with a new record. Although we experience plenty of spaces throughout a lifetime, at the same time, we become oblivious of a myriad of memories in certain spaces; however, the spatial record shows our existence.
The distance between coordinates was determined based on the body parts where the marks are relatively easily printed. A grid with 30cm intervals was installed so that the coordinates are printed on the body parts like feet, calves, thigh, arms, shoulders, and face.
